The Fifth avenue

Following the city’s expansion and the alongside of the Caribbean Sea, la QuintaAvenidahas ever represented the heart of Playa del Carmen; with its 2 km of length, it offers you numerous shopping plazas, boutiques, restaurants, bars and nightclubs. A place frequented by tourists and locals alike.

For shopping lovers, the Quinta offers the opportunity to buy souvenirs, handy crafts, refined jewelry and exclusive fashion clothes with the possibility to choose among the most prestigious brands.

But the Quinta is also………….a simple walk………………..a cocktail with friends, a dinner with the songs of the Mariachis…………….a very enjoyable musical night at your rhythm.

Playa Mamitas

One of the most famous beaches of Playa del Carmen with a beach club that provides all kind of services: parking, swimming - pool, restrooms, parasols, long chairs, beach-volley course, restaurant, bar, and diving center.

It is definitely a young ambience, where you can enjoy and meet new friends, with the live music of the different DJs of Mamita’s lounge.

This is also the place for many important events including modern fashion shows

Cenotes

The cenotes are fresh water wells, with different shapes and dimensions, connected together so that it formed the largest underground rivers system in the world. These caves and caverns represent a wonderful attraction for activities like snorkeling, diving, exploration or just swimming in the crystal clear waters that were considered as sacred by the Mayans.

Along the Riviera Maya, you can find a lot of cenotes, many of them are accessible to the tourist, with a cheap entrance fee.
Driving south of Playa del Carmen, on the highway to Tulum, you cannot miss the numerous signs on the side of the road to indicate the cenote’s entrance.

One of our favorites, is Cristalino, about 20 km from Playa, just before
Xpu Ha; a gorgeous show of the nature you cannot forget.

Alux

A very special place that is worth a visit for its location, is Alux (means magic, charm in maya).

It’s a restaurant inside a huge cavern, decorated with stalactites and stalagmites, where millions of years ago,was running an underground river.

Ideal for a dinner in a magical and natural atmosphere, with a large choice of local dishes and exotic cocktails with live music and dance show. www.aluxplaya.com

Xcaret

Only 10 km from Playa del Carmen, 10 minutes by taxi, is located the eco-park of Xcaret.During the day, you have many activities to enjoy such as; snorkeling in the underground rivers, swimming with dolphins, visiting the Mayan village and is unique mausoleum, orMayan ruins.

It’s also a wonderful place that makes a big effort to safeguard the local fauna and flora. In the park, plants and animals are raised in their natural environment.
But it’s the evening show that leaves everybody breathless; on the theater stage of“Gran Tlacho” takes place a majestic celebration in the typical Mexican tradition, a festival of colors, music and songs.

Xpu-Ha

Xpu-ha beach, wide and white, is located a few minutes from Playa del Carmen, driving south.
To go out from the city and the busy beaches, it’s a good spot to chill out in a relaxing ambience.
Imagine the light sound of the waves, lounge music coming from the restaurant Café del Mar, laying on the warm and white sand, reading a book, drinking a fresh fruit shake- you will, for sure, reach the most relaxed state ever!!!!!

Feeling hungry? No problem, Leon (the restaurant’s owner) will delight you with his fresh salads and seafood cuisine, like the well -known ceviche.

Tulum

Situated at 60 km south of Playa del Carmen, about 40 minutes driving, Tulum is part of the six archeological sites that represent the most the Riviera Maya. Surrounded by a wall, built on a rock, the ancient harbor was the most important trade point in the Mayan civilization. It’s a place with a unique beauty, full of contrast with the deep blue of the Caribbean Sea, and the impressive structure of the castle, the main edifice.
It takes about 2 hours to visit the site; then, enjoy the beaches, calm and untouched, chill out to end the day sun-tanned and relaxed.
Our favorite place is “La vita e bella” where we can taste fresh fruit juice and delicious frozen margarita.
Before going back to Playa del Carmen, we always stop over in the village to eat a real Italian slice of pizza with our friend, Andrea, from the restaurant “Nero di sole”.
